ECU Bracket removal difficulties

Featured Replies

I'm trying and have tried everything to remove the black bracket that protects the wiring at the bottom of my Ford Fusion 1.6tdci 2009 silver part of the ECU.

I just cannot remove it. I have tried everything from prizing it apart with a big screwdriver, knocking the (what looks to be a pin) out, swearing and just pulling the wires out manually..... nothing is working? I cannot afford to damage it!

I need to send the ECU off to be tested but, without getting this stupid bracket off.... I'm really stuck! .... something so simple can be the hardest job!

Anyone with any experience and/or knowledge of this issue will be greatfully received.

Regards,

Adam

Can you see anything that looks like rivets around it?  Most ECU covers have tamper proof screws these days, the heads snap off when tightened to the correct torque.  The only way to remove them is to cut slots in them with a Dremel and then use a flat blade screwdriver.

i drilled 2 8th holes into the head of the snap off bolt then use a pair of pointy nose pliers to spin the bolt off & on easy
