Power folding mirrors issue

Hi guys,

The girlfriend recently picked up a 2006 Ford Fusion. I can't remember the exact model (she's lives away with it at the moment) but it has the power folding mirror option installed.

There seems to be one of two issues with them.

The passenger/near side mirror does not FOLD OUTWARDS at all. It retracts but fails to fold out (seems to be getting stuck?).

The drive/off side mirror will fold in and make a horrible clicking noise - like the motor is still moving the mirror inwards despite it reaching its retracted position. It will fully fold outwards again though correctly it seems.

From a Google it seems that these mirrors mess up quite a bit. Is there a recommended troubleshooting guide for how to fix these or replacement parts? Do I need to pull them off the car and take them apart?

Pretty handy with a spanner but never owned a car with power wing mirrors or a Fiesta/Fusion so I thought I'd ask the community.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
