5 months to fit new PCM/ECU!

Featured Replies

My 2014 Ford Galaxy has been off the road for 5 months waiting for Ford to find a way of fixing it. The power-train control module (PCM) was diagnosed as faulty by the Ford dealer after the car randomly cut out whilst driving one day. However, the new PCM that the Ford dealer fitted will not communicate with the rest of the electronics in the car. It seems they can’t reprogram it correctly, so it just comes up with immobilised on the dashboard. They have tried with a different PCM, but it is the same problem. They have involved the regional field engineer and a remote specialist based in Dublin I believe, but they are getting nowhere.

At the moment Ford are footing 90% of the bill due to the car only being 1 year out of warranty, but after 5 months my patience has worn out. Can anyone here relate to my issue and guide Ford on how to fix it?

If they can't fix it, any amount of suggestions on well meaning folk on here probably won't help unfortunately. My suggestion is the bcm is the issue as that's where the security is stored.

I guess I either need to find someone who has had a similar previous problem, so I can pass on tips to Ford.

Or I need to find out a way of getting someone important and knowledgeable in Ford to take on the case.

The field engineer should be the one to fix it, he or she has the information ford dealers don't. Ive had field engineers out to solve complicated issues  and all have been solved by them

The field engineer has been three times and not fixed it yet, so I’m not holding my breath. I feel like I need to find a bunch of suggestions for him based on someone’s experience of this problem before.
