1.4 tdci orange power train light blinking

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Bit of an odd one. Car starts fine, runs fine (although massively down on power) even with the light on.

Here's where the mystery begins.

When the light is on (blinking) its down on power, otherwise normal. However, if you drive with load for more than a few seconds (less when it was rainy and cold the other day) the light stays off, and it's perfectly normal. After releasing the accelerator and reducing the load, the light comes back on.

I used a diagnostic obdII tool that I borrowed from a friend, and it can't find any codes. I got a WiFi obdII device from Amazon and captured a log, and to my (admittedly untrained) eye, I can't see any thing wrong.

The intake is coated in oil from the daft breather pipe from the cam cover to the inlet.

I replaced the injector seals approx 5 years ago and it's been perfect ever since, and since this fault I have replaced the fuel filter (it was due a change anyway).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Anybody have any ideas?

I do not have any suggestions, we ran a 1.4tdci for 83k,only having injector seals replaced.  Oil in breather sounds like a problem, as it is only there to vent the crankcase ?

Post on Fiesta section, probably more posters with experience of the engine there.

Oil in the intake is totally normal.

Does your Wifi dongle support Forscan?  If so, download that and you should find some Ford specific fault codes.

Thanks for the correction Tom, Only ever had one diesel, and it never went wrong, so I know nothing about them !

I'll have to check if it does. I'll check that and report back here.

Today me and a friend are going to check the whether the egr valve is stuck open/closed and a couple of other things.

EDIT: tried forscan as suggested, and got these after a self test.
