Focus 2008 1.6 DPF question.

Featured Replies

Hi folks this is my first post.

Had a Mondeo for years unfortunately timing belt snapped ( another story ) going away for a week and  needed a quick replacement. bought a 2008 focus diesel 1.6. The stepper  motor seems to have failed in the egr valve as a result it was chucking up loads of DPF errors and wanted to regen ( fans on when ignition off etc. )It  would also go into semi limp mode after half a mile. I have blanked  the EGR and disconnected. now it drives fine doesn't go into limp and the only error I get is the EGR fault. All the dpf errors have gone.

I was ready to go and get a remap and have the dpf removed. My question is could the EGR issue have thrown up some false DPF codes ?. The car has done a lot of miles but doesn't chuck any smoke out at all.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve
