1.8 tdci 2008 coolant problem

Featured Replies

Hi could anyone point me in the right direction. My wife decided to buy this focus with a known coolant leak thinking it would be an easy fix... so drove the car home had heat in the car didn’t overheat got home no coolant in the tank topped it back up. Took it for a drive again coolant disappeared again but when you took the cap of would come rushing back up in the reservoir start the car up went down again. Anyway looking around looked like rad and water pump had been leaking so replaced both followed by Thermostat. Filled back up drove again overheated plus same problem and also found small hole in  reservoir replaced that and cap. Tried again still the same but one minute Temperature gauge when right up the two seconds later dropped back down so thought maybe the temperature sensor not working correctly so replaced that. Good thing is that is working now. I have had it sniff tested for head gasket twice now and be told it is ok. Got the system vacuum and refilled to rule out air in the system. But still boiling over. Also had uv dye put in to find anymore leaks nothing showing up. When Stationary have heat in car but when driving goes cold and comes back when you stop. Really don’t know what else to try. Any input would be grateful.

Great meme 🙂 .  Frank has obviously searched the forum for relevant comments/answers before clogging up the forum with yet another new thread.

So how do we help Frank?
