2007 Fiesta 1.4 tdci loud whistling noise from engine

Featured Replies

About a month ago my Fiesta broke down on the motorway throwing huge clouds of white smoke from the exhaust and would not start again. I took the carto my local mechanic who said the fuel injectors were the cause and proceeded to replace all 4 with USED parts. He also had to replace the glow plugs as the car was showing a warning light for it. After a day of driving the battery also decided to die so also replaced that. After about 2 days, while driving I heard a noise from the engine (cannot accurately describe it just had a feeling that I heard something) but thought nothing of it. However after about 5 minutes the engine started to make a loud whistling noise which got louder as the revs increased. Took it back to my mechanic who said my turbo is causing the issue. Haven’t decided yet whether to replace the turbo but I am hoping for any advice. Thanks

Turbos whine like a siren, if it's a whistle it's more likely to be an air leak from one of the boost pipes.

It is more of a whining sound actually. Time for a new turbo?

Sounds like it.  I'd consider whether it might be worth changing car with the amount of faults you're getting recently.

That’s true, since the breakdown it keeps giving me new problems. Hasn’t put me in a good financial position either. I guess it is time to say goodbye 😔
