Rear door warning light keeps coming on

Featured Replies

Please could any body help me. My rear door warning light keeps coming on even though the door is shut. I have replaced the lock and it still comes on intermittently, I have to open the door and shut it to turn it off. While the warning light is on the internal light also comes on.

Thank you for looking

I think the micro switch in the door puts an earth onto the GEM to show the door is shut, so it might be worth checking the earth wiring on the door lock motor.  On a rear door, this is the only use for the earth.

I had a late Puma, and on that, occasionally the interior lamp would come on, and stay on for no reason at all.  By disconnecting the battery (ie a master reset !!!) it would be OK for a few months, and than come back on again....
