Calling from Norway! - No lights in instrument panel or GPS/radio modul

Featured Replies

Hi!

This morning my car (2016 Focus Eco 1.0) did start up, but the instrument panel is completely dark. No info about speed, petrol, indikator lights(or sound), rmp and so forth.

The radio/GPS/infotainment module is also "black"

Outer lights works.  Could drive to work without problems.

Have tried to turn off engine several times.  Also lock and un-lock the car.

Can't find any good clues in the fuse list in the manual.

What could it be?       Should I disconnect the battery?

Thanks in advance!

I'd start off with the easy stuff like disconnecting the negative cable for 10 minutes to reset the ECU/modules.  It's surprising how often this seems to "fix" modern cars, oh and the newer Ford head units don't have any security codes so you don't have to worry about "have I got my code" and inputting it after fiddling with the battery.

Thanks!

Got no further info from the Ford dealer, so I disconnected the battery over night (just to be sure)

It worked!  Like a Windows computer! 🙂

Excellent, it's great when a fix turns uut to be free/cheap 👍
