Judder

Featured Replies

So my 2017 fiesta 1.0 140 eco boost judders when changing from 1st to 2nd quite badly, doesn’t do it at all in any other gears. Can’t be my driving, never done it for me in any other car I’ve driven. Tried to find any related forums and haven’t been successful. Anyone else had or seen this before?

Assuming we both mean the same thing by judder, ie a fairly forceful vibration, shake or jerking, I've not encountered this on the Fiesta, though I have on previous cars. In the most recent case it was a software problem that the dealer never managed to resolve. I assume it occurs at the point when you re-engage the clutch? I have also had something similar in the past when either the clutch was on the way out or an engine/gearbox mount was suspect.

I do find the gear change from first to second is less than brilliant, to achieve a smooth change I have to take it pretty slowly. Like you, I'm pretty sure it's not down to me and all other gears are ok, though I have to say overall it's not the slickest box I've ever had.😀

As your car's still under warranty have you tried your dealer?
