Grinding noise when braking harshly

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Just after a bit of advice before taking the car to a garage. I've recently been getting a lot of noise when braking harshly coming up to a corner. It starts as a grinding noise then becomes more squeaky before eventually going away.

The car has already been in for another issue and they say the brakes have been cleaned and the pads aren't needing changed.

I'm not very car literate so any advice is appreciated.

The car is a Fiesta Zetec S Black Edition if this makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like brake pad/s excessively worn, metal on the pad grinding on the disc or perhaps lost a brake pad. Wheel/s need to come off to see the culprit, it could be damaging the disc meaning you'll need to replace both of them.
