Upgrading standard zetec radio to the gloss sony model

Featured Replies

Hi folks

I asked the question in the Kuga section - but haven't got an answer and i'm hoping someone has completed this on their focus.

I recently purchased a 2015 Kuga after my last two cars being a Focus. The Kuga is a zetec model with the standard radio in it and I was looking to upgrade to the Sony model found in titanium models up to 2015.

Is it possible to buy the Sony fascia from a titanium - glossy black finish and remove the current matt grey finish fascia and fit it straight on or are they not compatible.

Also is it possible to fit the 4.2 upgraded radio display also found in the titanium spec Kuga's prior to Sync 2 going in them? I currently have the 3.5 matrix blue display.

I've read it's possible on the focus section of this forum - is it the same for a Kuga? Also what does it entail?

Both just plug and play as long as the donor parts are from a 2015 .

So I can’t take a screen from a 2014 titanium etc

You basically need the screen that is compatible with sync 1.1 , early 2014 was sync1.0 . Not sure how incompatible they are.

@JW1982 is the whizz when it comes to screens ,sync etc. He may be able to help better .

Cheers from 2016 they started putting the upgraded screen in as standard on the zetec before they brought out the facelift.

Is there anyway to discover if I have sync 1.1?

Also i take it the screens don’t store anything in relation to the system the way the speedometers do?

Looks like I have sync 1.1

based on the below photo - so it’s a case of getting a 4.2 screen from a similar sync system?

Folks

Sorry to be a torture but does anyone know the 4.2 inch screen model for sync 1.1?

I’ve rang a few breakers and they keep asking for the model to check.

Folks - sorry to keep going on.

But does anyone know if these displays can be used without any requirements to change anything so therefore plug and play
