Updating Sync 3

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Im new to this forum and i've tried to search for what i was looking for.

I've had my Fiesta for around 3 weeks now and i've started getting a message on my touch screen to say i need to update and should connect to wifi or via Ford Pass Connect app. I have connected via wifi and it doesn't look like it's connected - when i press scan for update it does nothing - sometimes it says i need connect to wifi but when i check my connections it's already connected. I have no idea how to do this via the Ford Pass Connect app.

I have also tried via usb but when i have unzipped the download there is no single "SyncMyRide" i have alot of different "SyncMyRide\1U5T-14G658-AD.tar" zip folders so not sure what i need to do!

Any help with the above would awesome as i have no idea what im doing at the moment lol

Thanks in advance

Firstly dont bother with trying to update via wifi as it doesn't work in UK or rest of Europe. In fact best to turn off wifi updates in Sync3 then you wont get messages. You dont say where you got download from but if not you should go to   https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/status/  and follow instructions to download any updates. When you unzip download you should see 3 files   SyncMyRide ,autoinstall.lst, DONTINDX.MSA . It's all in the help pages there

Ive tried updating my Focus sync 3 via the ford download but the downloaded file is corrupt and will not unzip properly.  apparently it is a known issue with the download.

I had issues when i tried it on my mac but when i used my windows pc it worked fine.

Only issue at present I think is non availability of F8 maps update on some late MY18 and early MY19 that left the factory with F7 installed and this may not be resolved until F9 release in 2020

Sync3 software updates for these vehicles however can be downloaded ok.
