Focus Mk 2 1.6TDCi Condenser O Ring Lubricant

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am replacing my condenser in my Ford Focus Mk2 1.6 TDCi Titanium and was wondering what refrigerant lubricant I should use to lubricate the replacement o rings with?

There is a lot of chat about different types of lubricant for a R134a A/C system, i.e. mineral oil or PAG etc. so if someone could tell me exactly what I need that would be great!

Also, I don't fancy paying the high price for the genuine Ford condenser (approximately £170). Is there any thoughts on what is a good aftermarket brand to buy? The one I'm currently looking at is: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hella-Air-Conditioning-Condenser-8FC351301-734-GENUINE-5-YEAR-WARRANTY/173674684999 as it comes with a 5 year warranty (Ford only offers a 1 year warranty).

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Chris.

I was told to use PAG oil by an AC specialist.

Hella should be decent quality, although if you can find a Nissens one that's my preference.

Thanks for this!

Any reason for choosing a Nissens?

Also, as I need so little oil to lubricate the O rings would you recommend any brands or places to get in from?

Cheers, Chris.

No particular reason to choose Nissens over Hella, Hella do manufacture some OE parts, it's just that I've always had decent quality rads (both coolant & AC) from Nissens compared to some brands so stick with them these days, I can usually find a decent price for them.

I managed to blag some PAG oil from the AC tech for free lol.  It's Elke branded but I haven't used any others to compare.  You can buy a bottle or Eis from ECP for about £6.  Your local motorfactor might be able to beat ECP's price.
