Trouble

Featured Replies

Have fitted a new seat tilt handle  ,  but it doesn't seem to pull up enough to allow seat to tilt , and l cant seem to see the cable nipple like l can on the n/s one  ?   Can these be fitted wrong ?  Have felt under the seat near the gear box tunnel and can feel the cable move when the handle is pulled  , any help or advice appreciated      thanks Dave

Are both cables moving? Probably 1 has snapped

Oh   !      Thanks for reply  wasnt aware there were two !    Found one under the left hand rear corner of the seat which moved when catch operated  ,  didnt feel anything on the outer side of the seat even after having removed the plastic trim  (that hides the hinge mech )   am l to assume it would be better to take the seat out   .  ?    Only worry l had was that l can see cable on the  passenger side and not the other   ,  will l need to break the catch to get into the cable   ?  Or perhaps take it to garage  if its beyond a easy DIY job   😥

If you take the seat out (disconnect seat belt pretensioner plug, remove head rest, four torx bolts), upturn seat, and seat base is easily removable with (i think) just two bolts.

This gives easy access to where the two cable ends go into the catch.

I had a broken cable on escort. I repaired it using a bicycle brake cable inner and some wiring block connectors(the ones with small screws in)
