Help Engine Warning Light

Featured Replies

Hi, have a Mk4 1.25 fiesta (2001). Engine warning light stayed on and started flashing so had to get recovery to get home. Found some oil in the air filter, soot in the exhaust, running rough, lost power trying to get up a hill. From what I have read so far I am hoping that this might be an issue with the pcv valve / maf sensor.

This looks like something I can tackle myself and costs for parts will be about £10 if I only get the valve / use 99% iisopropyl alcohol to clean the Maf.

Can anyone tell me if this is the first thing / best thing / easiest thing to check first? I tried a friends OBDII connector but we couldn't log on as it was a cheap one.

Thanks in advance
