Can't play music through USB using phone

Hi, I recently bought a 2014 1.5 TDCI Zetec Fiesta and I've been trying to play music through my phone using the USB port. I haven't had any luck with it, which is why I'm asking here. Whenever I try to connect my phone, the display comes up with "USB NOT SUPPORTED". I've also tried using a different cable but it has the same message.
