6000CD not syncing with ignition

Hi all. I've trawled through the forums on here but haven't managed find a solution!

I've got a 6000CD in my '09 Mondeo and recently it has stopped automatically turning on and off when I turn the ignition key. It only tends to work if I push the big on/off button in the middle (and then only for 1 hour). I've replaced the unit with a 2nd hand one I bought, but it's still doing the same thing. Is the fault with my ignition rather than the radio??

Also, sometimes the date/time stays live and lit up after leaving the car - and continues to do so, draining the battery!

Thanks for any advice.
