Mk7 Headlights On Mk6 Car

Featured Replies

Just wondering if the Mk7 headlights would fit on a Mk6 car?

I recently bought a Mk6 LX 1.4 TDCi and saw the headlights on a Mk7 and thought they looked good.

Looking at pictures of the lights on a parts website they look like they are the same shape.

Does anyone know if the clips are in the same place, and the connectors are the same?

They're nowhere near the same shape...

Unless you mean the facelift mk6.5 not mk7

No they definitely wont fit unfortunately!

Mark 6.5 headlights should fit in a Mark 6 (I think someone on the forum's done it before).

But as you can see, Mark 7 won't fit in anything but a mark 7...

The website I saw the lights on said that they were Mk7 lights, but now I see that they were probably the Mk6.5 facelift lights NOT Mk7's as they look nothing like the Mk7 lights on the car in the picture.

I'll have to search for the post on Mk6.5 lights on a Mk6 car then.

Thanks for your help.

I think the rear lights would fit too ...

Thanks all for your help. I'll have a look to see how much as set of front and rear Mk6.5 lights will set me back.

If Ford had any sense (possible) and were keeping an eye on costs when they did the facelift (very likely) then the new lights (front and rear) will probably share the main plastic backing (housing) and just have some new lenses put on them to spruce things up a bit - pretty sure the metal panels around them didn't change so Ford could probably have saved themselves a good few hundred grand buy not tooling up new bits they didn't need.

If thats what they did, then it should be a straight swap......but that might be toooo easy.
