My 1.6 zeetec s petrol fiesta is cutting out and running poorly when cold. What could be the problem?

What codes is it showing?

  • Author

Hi we checked for error codes when the engine was warm and running ok. It showed nothing. Perhaps I should get it checked when it’s cold and playing up?

when fault codes arise, the 'computer' remembers them until you deliberately clear them, so it will not show codes at different times hot / cold.

if a car has not had fault codes cleared for a long time there are sometimes some old ones that relate to previous incidents (eg. flat battery) so normally what needs doing is Read Codes, Note them down, Clear Codes, Drive car, Read codes again and see which ones reappeared.

How are you checking for codes (equipment and software)
