Door Seals

Featured Replies

I just noticed today the rubber seal on the passenger door is peeling off, has anyone else had this problem? Is this something Ford will fix under warranty as the car is less than 2 weeks old? Or would it be easier and cheaper if I just glue it back on?

I'm a little disappointed it has a problem already even though it is minor.

They will try to fix it, but some members of this forum have had mixed results when they got dealers to sort the same problem - some found the seals came off again within a matter of days, others had it solved.

Surprised your car is doing this, as Ford added some plastic clips to try and prevent this problem towards the end of last year (my car was built in September and has the fix on it, and touch wood, has been fine so far).

Thanks coysht, my fiesta is a pre-october build so doesn't have these clips. I guess I will have to take it in :(

My previous mk7 Oct 08 build suffered from peeling seals, it went in 3 times for replacement seals as they just kept peeling off. Luckily my mk7 sept 09 build has the plastic clips and no probs so far with the seals, i just wish this mk7 was quieter ie rattles, creaks and squeaks galore :(

Well it's only a tiny amount peeling away, so hopefully they can fix it quickly, if not I'll just super glue it

I wish it didn't rattle as much too, the passenger glove box is very irritating. My previous Skoda felt a bit more solid.

Was it covered under warranty each time?

Aye Bristol Street Motors apologised and replaced them without a fuss each time, even after the 3rd replacement they were starting to peel. If i had kept the car i would have just used some automotive glue from work as it was getting to be a chore to keep going back to the dealer

Faulty seals and Bristol street motors, that sounds familiar! :-)
