Broken USB port

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I know it's a minor issue really but I can't find anything on YouTube.  When I bought my Focus I later realised that the USB port (in the centre console between the seats) was missing. On closer inspection it looks like the previous owner has forced it down and away from the mount.  I've taken the port out and it's snapped inside so I need to renew it.  I was thinking of soldering a new one in myself but does anyone's if I can run a new cable and aux/USB port from the back of the stereo?  I'm not sure if this cable is separate or is wired into the stereo harness.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Clive.  Mine isn't either of those but it's similar to the first one.  On my one the USB connector was connected directly to the underside of the plastic module with no multi plug although the aux connector did have a multi plug.  So I'm wondering if the USB connector had a multi plug connector somewhere under the centre console maybe near the hand brake etc.  The only other way would be to cut and solder another female USB connector onto the existing wiring but the wires are quite thin so might be a bit fiddly.

Can you get a decent photo of the offending module?
Might be able to check availability of a replacement or at least be able to advise on a fix (if possible).
