Lumpy ford fiesta zetek 1.4

Featured Replies

Recently inherited an 04 reg Fiesta zetec 1.4...admittedly hadn't been run in a while so got it serviced and motd, also had new battery and a vacuum hose replaced. On the whole much better but have noticed a few niggles.

1/ car feels lumpy around the 1700 rpm mark,  like a drop in power momentarily, especially noticeable when accelerating slowly ie traffic around town etc. Happens in all gears around this rpm and possibly again a bit over the 2000 rpm mark, otherwise pulls fine im higher revs.

2/ possibly associated with 1/ above, there is a hesitation when pressing the accelerator,  like there's nothing for a bit (the initial travel of the pedal) then it picks up. If you pump the pedal quickly from idling you get what sounds like a gasp of air. Very strange.

3/ if accelerating quickly through gears there is a slight squeal similar to the sound of spinning tyres as each gear is engaged, as the clutch pedal reaches the top of its travel or so it seems. Thought this could be a loose belt or posdibly clutch issues?

Anyway would be great to hear what people's thoughts are on the above!
