Boot Light Fault Draining Battery

Featured Replies

My 15 plate Fiesta had a completely flat battery the other evening after being parked up for just over 4 hours. When I first attempted to start the car, there was a warning message on the dash advising that the boot was open. I checked that the boot was shut correctly and it was, but opened and closed it again just in case and got the same message. Car still wouldn't start. Tried to start the car again about 20 minutes later and the message no longer appeared. Used my Green Flag membership and they were able to get the car going again.

Battery flat again and on attempting to start the car, the message about the open boot appears again. Boot was closed properly.

Replacement Bosch Battery purchased and fitted as I've only had the car for a few months and I suspect it's the original battery which at just over 4 years old was probably on its last legs. Car now starts. FIngers crossed that is it resolved now.

Has anyone had this message about boot being open and how did you resolve it? Wondering if there is something causing a battery drain but not sure where to start.

If you leave your seats down or parcel shelf off you will see if the bulb goes out. I'm sure my Focus boot light actually went off on a timer come to think of it.

If not, it's probably the boot latch (the switches are normally integrated into the latch), shouldn't be too difficult to replace.
