2018 mk4 focus rear light upgrade

Hi, I've a new shape 2018 focus St line x. This car comes with standard bulb type rear lights, unlike the titanium x that has led rear lights as standard.

I've just bought a full set of the led type from a titanium x but have a problem with the outer pair. The inner pair in the tailgate work fine with the led side light working. But, the outer pair, the led strip isn't coming on and it's using a bulb.side light instead.  The led brake light seems to work but is also coming on as a side light. Indicator works fine but that is a bulb anyway so the same.

Has anyone done this conversion and does it need a wiring mod or a body control module reconfiguring

I would imagine they need coding in so the ECU knows they are LED.  LED have very different power profiles than halogen.

Gracias Christian, ¿conseguiste encontrar un código para cambiar las luces traseras estándar a LED en el BCM? ¿Sabes qué código es. Espero que esto transate bien, usando algo en Internet

You need to configure LED rear lamps in the BCM using forscan

I don't suppose you know which value I need to change to do this by change ?

You need to connect the yellow and white wire in the lamp.

Necesita conectar el cable amarillo y blanco en la lámpara.

And would it work well or would FORSCAN be necessary?

Anyone still looking to do this...

Its extremely simple and requires no programming at all. Just connect the white wire into the yellow.

Do the rears come on with DRL? I thought it was only the fronts?

Yes, DRLs only come on at front! Volvo innovated their use in the 70s, where everyone use to flash their lights at them thinking they'd left their sidelights on LOL

On a (very slightly) related note, when you have adaptive cruise on, does the car apply the brake lights when slowing the car to match the speed of the vehicles in front?

As far as I'm aware, it would be illegal if the brakes were applied (by manual or automated means) without the brake lights been activated.

You can turn the rears on so they are permanent drls in forscan
