Mk4 fog light cornering lights!

Featured Replies

Why!?!

its taken me a few weeks to notice these.

I don’t have the led headlights (unfortunately) but these fog lights coming on every time I turn the wheel is just daft.

no way of turning them off either!

They're one of the most pointless "improvements" I've ever known.  Nearly as bad as the shift indicator.

First saw them on VAG cars. It looks stupid and gives no benefit.

They do help a bit, but not nearly as much as headlights which can aim around the bend.

If they only came on when there’s no streetlights I could understand.

Anyway I thought using fog lights when visibility is normal was an offence?

I think these days they are classed as "driving" lights.

When they’re both on they look alright. One on looks like you’ve a bulb out!

I know you’ve got an automatic gearbox, are you engaging the handbrake while the engines running?

Ive been turning off the ignition which as you know puts it in park.   then engaging the handbrake while the engines off.

I don't think it makes much difference. I stick box in park, engage handbrake, turn engine off.

I'm old school so prefer to put in park myself and engage handbrake before engine off, although it's all computer controlled anyway.

But the engine goes off with the stop/start , so I’d have to start the engine again to engage the brake with the engine running.

Have you tried the auto hold? I’ve found it makes the stop/start not restart the engine until the accelerator is pressed rather than when i take my foot off the brake. I’m told it’s great in the manual..it’s Completely useless in the automatic.

Whole point of that is so u can take foot of the brake without the engine starting. Only useful in very heavy traffic .

Auto hold works very well on manuals, also holds during stop start when it is stopped. Not as smooth as handbrake but works well.
