Oil leak

Featured Replies

Hi all ,have a fiesta active x 140 cars fantastic to drive but after just 5months had oil leak ford told me head gasket needed replacing the car was brand new so work was done under warrenty after two weeks got car back ,soon after anouther leak this time oil pump was at fault job only one day,one month later surprise anouther leak this is starting to get a bit worrying never had problems with any ford 18 when I bought my first car now in my 50s thought I'd treat myself to a brand new car after years of second hand one's just wondering if anyone else has had problems with ecoboost engine many thanks gary

mine is mk8 fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 100ps automatic , current mileage is 8500 miles, when it was just around 500 miles there was a small leak ( actually its a wetting rather than a leak ) was comming from cam sensors fitted on the engine from above, they tightened their bolts at the dealer and the leak went away, a month ago I noticed another leak coming from the oil return pipe of the turbo , the area around the pipe fitting on the engine block, again they tightened the pipe bolt at the dealer and the leak went away, now I have a visible small wetting coming from under the valve cover, I will notify them during the next service about it, perhaps they will tighten the valve cover bolts too 😄

sadly to see this wonderful torquey ecoboost engine , a technological marvel, is not assembled as it should be, how all these bolts needs tightening while the engine is still new !! and where would be the next leak ?!! timing belt cover this time ? !! 😄

in 2007 I had a fiesta 1.6tdci, at about 10k miles i noticed sump getting wet at crank pulley end. I did the sump bolts up a bit tighter and it was fine after that. One of them could be moved just with my fingers.

Thanks guy's it's very encouraging to know it could just be some nuts and bolts and not something more serious the car's still under warrenty you just don't think you'll have these kind of problems when you buy a new car
