Smell from heating fan

Featured Replies

Hey guys anybody have ideas on this problem...

Ford Fusion 1.6 diesel 2006

When I turn heater to hot and direct it to the feet I get a bad smell, it's not fumes from engine I think and I'm not losing coolant at all, any idea what it could be? It's only when directed downwards??

It's changed every year in the service and has never made a difference to the smell ( is a long-term problem that I haven't got round to sorting).

Bacteria in the aircon matrix, get a can of cleaner and fog the system.

Ok thanks maybe worth a shot but why does the smell only come when it's directed to the feet? It's instant when you change from windscreen to down

Probably condensation settled into the lower ducting so becomes the area most likely to get manky.

Makes sense I guess, question is how do I get rid of it? Access to the ducting is nearly impossible without taking half the car apart no?

Actually I tried two of those cans from your above link last year and didn't do anything....

Any body got any idea how I can get rid of the condensation??

Thanks

Run the system at full temperature / max fan speed with re-circulation selected.
