New Android radio install

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I've recently purchased my first car (yey!), it's a Ford Fiesta MK7 and I purchased a new radio and screen to go in it.

Unfortunately my attempts to install it aren't going too well, since I know next to nothing about cars. The wire harness that came with the device doesn't seem to be the right fit, but I'm a bit lost trying to find the right item on ebay since it comes up with allot of different results.

Basically, would any of you guys mind pointing me in the right direction as to what harness I need to get for these two cables. I assume that this one might fit the red cable, but then I'm left with a mystery white cable with nowhere to plug it in. Is the white cable for the speakers?

The new radio I ended up buying is here. What actually arrived seems to have the same cables, but the layout is slightly different. The harness provided with the kid seems to not fit (unless I'm being more thick than usual).

The listing you linked to says for 2013-2016 cars, i.e. Mk7.5, but your profile, says 2010, which is mk7 i.e. pre-facelift?

Does the android HU you bought not offer a 2009-2012 version with the correct harness? Ford changed to Sync 1, so I don't know if what you've bought has the right interface at a software level either.

My car is pre-facelift, I didn't realise that there might be any software issues. I assumed that with so many android radios out there claiming to be universal, it would just be a case of getting one that fits.

In the description is has a (unreliable looking) list of compatible cars. It lists them as MKVI, though I assume it means MKVII.

The canbus and power cable you need should've come with the stereo meaning it's just plug and play.

I cant remember if the plug for the facelift is different to the pre-facelift, I'd imagine so.

Sadly you bought one that's come from Hong Kong. It will be difficult and expensive to ship that back if you have to...

If the description is wrong then go through eBays complaint process, escalate through Paypal if eBay don't give you the outcome you want. I am fed up to the back teeth with chinese sellers not knowing what they're selling and using that as an excuse for misleading descriptions. I tried a compatibility search and this came back as compatible. Check the packaging it came in, you'll probably find that it came from a UK warehouse, or UK shipper. They'll barter with you to try and avoid the cost of sending back as if it's not as described the seller has to foot the bill.

Notes	Make	Model	Year	Variant	Type	BodyStyle	Engine
Ford	Fiesta	2010	MK VI [2008-2016] Hatchback	--	Hatchback	1598ccm 101HP 74KW (Petrol/Ethanol)

The software will be universal, but the radio, CANBUS adapter (the red seethru thing) and plugs will be different depending on the car. The preinstalled settings on the radio will also be different depending upon the model.

Thanks for the reply,

I imagined that the radio would be universal, and considering I mostly want to use it for GPS and the like it wouldn't be much of an issue. Wiring it is the only snag. I'm going on the assumption that I can find the right wires somewhere online.

I did order a cable off eBay that looks like it would fit the red wire. I'm going on the assumption that the grey wire is for the speakers (can someone confirm?), so aren't critical. I imagine I'll be able to find some kind of connector for it. Everything else I think is fine.

I don't actually remember seeing a "red seethru thing", so I might have to kick some bins over about that. Honestly I've not looked at it since I created this thread.

It's marked as number 18 on the listing picture. It provides the reverse signal, and ignition signal for cars with no switched live at the radio connector.
