14 plate focus is this normal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to cars. I bought a 14 plate focus in Jan last year. Beautiful car and I love it. But I've noticed it doesn't seem to do a lot of miles to a full tank but tbh I don't know if it'd just me with unrealistic expectations.

I filled it up beginning of november, about £56. I've only really been driving it to and from work which is a mile away, 2 at most. Now it's showing 49 miles left in tank but normally it lasts about half this through the month I've done just 160 miles. Does this sound right?

Sorry just to add its a 1.6

Sorry also as well, the windows go down automatically when you press and hold but you have to hold all way to shut them. Is that right too?

1.6 petrol or diesel?  The cold weather will reduce your MPG, especially on such short journeys.

The windows are normal if it's just a Zetec.  If it's a Titanium then they go both up and down but may need resetting if the battery has been off.

It's a petrol sorry.

Glad to know its normal for windows and not a fault, thank you.

Ok, at least we can rule out any DPF issues then.  I'm afraid that probably is right for just doing a mile or 2 at a time though, the engine will never be able to warm up properly.  If possible, it might be worth taking for a longer journey at the weekends now and then.

Thank you. MOT and service is due next month so I'll mention to them too but I thought that might be the case. Love the car though regardless.

Thanks for your help
