Hello all

i have 2015 Vignale 2.0tci auto estate 

lately I have an issue where the car takes 5 cranks to start and even though I have my foot on the brake before I press the start button, one started the dash warns me several times to press the brake pedal 

also, I’m getting an issue where the virtual dash stays black for 60 seconds 

Ford say the car has no faults and the battery is fine. I reckon it’s either the starter motor or a starter related issues 

has anybody else had this issue ?

    Is that 5 attempts with the key and a few failed turn overs at each key on, or 5 turn overs of the engine with one turn of the key?

    Just to clarify, this may help guide us to the problem :)

    I wonder if the brake switch is faulty?  Does your cruise still work and then cancel when pressing the brake?  Ford diags should've picked that up if so though.

    Tbh it does sound like the battery with the blank dash as well...I'd want a second opinion on that personally.

    to confirm, you press the brake pedal, then press the starter button and the car cranks over 4 to 5 times before it starts 

    then the dash displays ( press brake pedal) twice 
     

    so I’m assuming the car thinks I’m trying to start it without pressing the pedal which I am
