Starter motor issues?

Featured Replies

Hi there, hope someone can help. I have a 14 plate Ford Fiesta Eco Boost with 50,000 on the clock.

Very very long story short. My car was caught up in the bad floods in April. Once it dried out it still drove fine apart from the airbag light was continually on.

Took it to a Ford dealers and they replaced the whole airbag and insurance agreed to pay out.

3 weeks later the car broke down and I took it back to Ford and it was now a to do with fuel getting to the engine but not flood related so I paid to fix it.

3 weeks later after that I broken down again. After loads of tests it was showing it was the starter motor as we could still bump start it.

The recovery man convinced me to get it fixed as it was a small job, the car was still young with low milage and would be a shame to get rid.

I took it to a trusted garage who changed the starter motor and replaced it with Ford's one.

A month later the car breaks down again. Exact same issues as when the starter motor went.

Now, I know I should have just gotten the car written off after the flood but I absolutely loved my car and honestly thought it would be fine.

What can I now do. Is there something else starter motor related that it could be? What are my options for getting rid/selling it?

Literally, open to over thing but I can't spend another load of money on it as I think it's just silly now.

Make and model update

i don't know the answer to the problem, but I would very reluctant to have a car that had been immersed in water as the chances are some may have seeped into hubs/wheel bearings/gearbox/starter motor /alternator/ hand brake cable/electrical connector plugs etc. and it would be a while until the problems caused by this all starts coming to light even if it all seems fine initially when the water has subsided.
