Fiesta Mk8 - Mystery yellow cap

Featured Replies

My son has just bought a 2019 mk8 Fiesta 1.0 125BHP. Whilst checking under the bonnet we noticed a small yellow circular cap that was found loose around the fuel injectors. Had a quick look around, but couldn’t see anywhere it should’ve been fitted to, so wondering if it’s been there since the car was built and off an installed component. I’ve attached a pic.

Thanks to anyone who can help

😀

Howdo.  Can't see the pic?

looks like an oil fill cap to me !! may be its a disposable oil fill cap that was used during the assembly process 🙂

cant really get any idea of size from the pic

The internal diameter is about 20mm, and it’s 30mm height including the tab. I do think it’s probably as Ahmad suggested a disposable cap off something used during assembly of the vehicle.

That looks like a bung that plugs up the breather on the cam cover before assembly

I come across those regularly in my work repairing turbine engines. It's a dust cap that comes on various new components and hoses to stop dirt or moisture entering before the part is fitted. They are most often red or yellow and come in various sizes sometimes with a thread on the inside or outside and sometimes they just push fit. During the assembly of the car the cap has been left in your car accidentally.
