Driving Brand New Zetec S

Featured Replies

Hello all, new on here and just sold my 1.4 2004 silver edition fiesta and picking up my new Zetec S 1.6tdci on Saturday :)

Just wondering how you all drove your brand new fiesta when you bought it. ie. kept it under certain revs? length of journeys? motorway miles to start with? When can I start thrashing it??

Thanks

Im still granny driving

Shifting at 2500 RPM untill getting into 5th

Although I did have a play with a Honda Civic this week ... The Engine didn't flinch ha ha

The diesel engine maybe abit different, but from my impressions from test drive on the TDCI, I think it will be as eager as the Petrol to get going. So you can be obedient as long as you can hold your right foot back

well... the engines now are already pre-ran in. so there is no need to be gentle. its up to u if u wanna use a little bit of caution. i didnt really thrash it per say, but i drove it like i normally did, thrashed it now and then if im in the mood for a quick go, but other than that changed at about 2700ish. but it does get quicker and quicker til u done about 1000 miles. hasnt done mine any harm. and also, its under warrenty so there shouldnt be any problems.

rogue shadow you forum addict.. lol :P zsoc is so much better for banter, but at least more people one mk7s on this site than the ZSOC. lol

Yep posted on 2 forums *embarrassed face*

Prefer fiesta owners club to be honest cos its split into mk7, mk6 etc. Just seems far too much info on zsoc on older models.

Cheers for the help, also was directed to a link that someone was recommending varying all speeds and makng sure you use the whole rev range to ensure a correct seal around the pistons. Seems there is no clear cut common advice apart from ensuring you let it warm up properly.

I'll probably just end up driving it normally for a while with the odd surge of power.

Yea ive been living here for awhile :D

I'll return to ZSOC soon. But I really need some good weather so I can get some good photos on my car.

Then I can make a thread lol

Thats pretty much all you can realistically do to be honest, just drive as you want to from now on.

yeah it is better to do that, cos if u only break in up to 4000 revs when u do go to 6500 itll be a bit of a strain. just enjoy your car mate.. im sure u wont rag it everywhere, fuel has got too expensive now.. just got my cat back fitted, but drive like a granny with it cos its too expensive to spunk the fuel. lol

just drive as you want to from now on.

Another thing I wanted to ask was that, I didn't get the bluetooth or USB and am now just realising that this means I won't have rear speakers and also, is it a different display? just reading the back of the brochure where it says its a 2 line display not a matrix one. This is slightly disappointing as nowhere in the brochure does it show this lower spec display. Anyone got any photos of it? Putting a slight downer on picking up my zetec s :(

Mate the Sound system in the Zetec S is TOP notch, Im very impressed with it.

Im not to sure about the different screen, Sounds like aload of bull if you ask me.

Because if you use a MP3 disk the Display shows all the details about the song (Track name, artist, cd name)

If all that information fits on the screen I cant see what a lower spec screen would be seeing MP3 Disc playback is Standard

Edit: Also...the wires are apparently stuck behind the trim of the rear speakers.

So yes there are no speakers there, but you are welcome to connect your own.

A few people on here have done so

If you have the brouchure, it shows the two line display (listed as CD/Radio) in the bottom left corner of the page that shows all the stereo options. It's also shown on the Style, but that picture is too dark to really see much.

yeah that's what I thought, it is a different display. But as I say you can't really see it in the brochure properly. I feel a complaint coming on cos my salesman told me it would be exactly the same layout as the test drive but just instead of where it had a phone button, it would be left blank. Kind of annoying. Anyone got a proper photo of it?

have a look on autotrader and you should be able to see the non bluetooth display on the zetec s fiesta's.hope this helps in some way. :)

also just enjoy your car and don't worry about its running in period, the car will be just fine .

I just drive with a heavy foot every where, and always have done....might explain the 39.9mpg though!
