Fiesta 2007 main beam not working high beam constantly on

Featured Replies

Hi,

Having trouble understanding the fault i have with my 2007 Ford Fiesta climate 1.4. Main beam not working and the high beam is constantly on. When you pull back the indicator stalk another set of lights do come on whilst you have it held back. Blue main beam remains on constant in both auto headlight mode and manual. Maybe un related however i have recently been getting a message on the dash stating the the rear passenger door open when it isn't.

Hope you can help, thanks Jason

main beam and high beam are the same thing. the other one is low beam or dipped beam.

Anyway, my sister's 2004 Fiesta was stuck on highbeam even though the switch moved and the click felt ok.

After investigating (checking the relays) I concluded the problem was the switch, I bought a 2nd hand one on ebay for about 7 quid including postage. Fitted it which was very easy and all was fine after that.

Out of curiousity I took the old one apart, it all unclips although is very fiddly. I found a small delicate part inside had broken which stopped it clicking back to dipped beam.

The one I replaced did not have a button on end of stalk (for mpg settings etc). If you need one with the button on I think it might cost you a few quid extra.
