Ford Fiesta 12 Reg Titanium Lifting

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm a new driver and have the above car. However, previous to buying it has been lowered an on some speed bumps I can hear the bumper scraping. I was wondering if anyone knew the best place to go to get it lifted, and how much I should be looking at? I think an inch would suffice.

Thanks!

Probably just need the springs replacing with a standard set.

Could be weak springs as mentioned.Sometimes it’s just more air pressure needed in the tyres👍

Guarantee it's the foam inserts on the top of the rear springs that's making the scraping noise, these are prone for diserterating and when they do the noise is terrible over humps, if they are a creamy colour then they are foam, if they are black, then they are a more sturdy rubber compound.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your replies. I'm not too sure if it is the foam inserts making the noise, I'm pretty sure it is actual scraping. I've attatched an image of the front bumper!

It looks as if what you've got has been modded to resemble a Zetec S or Metal, which are lower than the standard Fiesta to start with, but has been  lowered even more and fitted with a front splitter which I guess is what's grounding first.

I'd be inclined to try removing the splitter first, then if you still have a problem, going to a standard (or closer to standard) Zetec S set up.

Could the seller (looks like a dealer) tell you what has actually been done to the car? If they've sold you a car which is really unsuitable for normal driving they ought to be sorting it out.

i have occasional trouble with the front of mine scraping and it's only a Fiesta Style Econetic mk7.5 with no mods. But that one in the pic does look ridiculously low and plain to see there would be problems

Thanks both for your replies.

Believe it or not, only getting slight problems (just slight scraping) in private car parks etc with private speed bumps. But still want to get it sorted.

If it's a simple case of replacing the springs with a standard set, do you have any idea what price range I'd be looking at for this to be fitted?

Thanks,

Not actually needed to change springs on a Fiesta myself so can't quote from personal experience unfortunately. A set of aftermarket springs for a Mk 7 including fitting are in the £300-£400 range at Pumaspeed in Wakefield, for example.

If you can't find out exactly what has been done to the car, it may be an idea to take it to a specialist or a decent independent local garage if you have one, who would be able to discuss your requirements and advise what you need.
