Help! Mk 6.5 electrical fault steering column connection

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am looking any advice or help.. My 2006 1.4tdci fiesta mk6.5 has developed a problem where when the car is started the radio goes off and the display in the dash goes blank. Usually comes back on after a minute or two, but it's getting worse.

I've checked all the connections and found the multiplug I have pictured to be at fault. Its to the left of steering column just beneath the indicator switch.

If I press and hold the plug gently to either side the car starts normally and the dash and radio fault stays away. If I gently jiggle it while the car is running then the dash goes blank and radio goes off.

I'd noticed that sometimes the car doesn't turn over when the keys turned and it seems to be a fault at the same plug. It's been a very intermittent fault for a few years but wobbling the connection causes it to happen every time so I'm pretty sure both faults are connected.

I've checked the terminals and they're all clean and seem secure.
