Try the instrument cluster or exhaust shield.

Old clip ? So it's still doing it then ?

Might be the air sensor behind the dash, this is located to the lower right of the stereo, you can't see it but you'll see several small vents in the lower dash, near were your left knee will be whilst driving, this sensor gets gobbed up with dust and becomes out of balance causing a very irritating noise which seems to come around from the dash area.
