Keyless Keys

Featured Replies

Hi

when I was test driving a 2015 Focus recently, in the bunch of keys there was a kind of white stick, a white plastic cylinder about the same length as a key fob - what on earth is it please?

Thats what dealers usually put on their keys, I think its some sort of security, they will remove it if you buy the car.

It's a pegboard system.
If someone is authorised to remove a key bunch from the board they will have their own release key.
Once they put their key in the correct hole they can remove the corresponding bunch.
It keeps track of who has the bunch and also stops unauthorised people from helping themselves to the keys.
It can also be used for tool boards and suchlike.

Aha that's great thanks I just thought I was missing something from the car I bought!  I only got one key and no peg or that white tag thing.  I'm paying £180 to a locksmith (NLS security, Newcastle) to get a 2nd key as it is!
