Passenger Front Window Problem

Featured Replies

I recently had my dash cam stolen and they smashed the passenger side front window to get it, I had it replaced by National Windscreens and all was OK, I hadn't opened the window until a week or so later when i accidentally hit the button when trying to fold my mirrors in.  Now when i try and close the window, it will go halfway up, then stop and go down again. Then it will do it again, on the third try it will go all the way up and then back down. then on the fourth try it goes halfway up, then freezes in the middle and stays there, pressing the button does nothing at all. I have to restart the engine and try again, it then does the same as the first time, but eventually goes up and stays up. I have tried the resetting procedure and no difference. Am i gonna have to take it to the dealer or is there something simple i am missing?

If you have done a reset then i would contact the window people who fitted it,it may have a feature(so you dont trap your head in it) that if it feels tight it will stop/go back down.If your confident enough take of door card and look what happens when you put it up see if its catching something.Like i said the window people should of checked before leaving that all was okay.Another option is when you lock the car keep your finger on the lock button for another two seconds and see if it goes up ,you may have global locking and its got confused .just trying to run ideas over....

As Gazcas said Contact the window people. Had a similar problem with Auto Windscreens with my drivers door window. It took a while to get them back to sort it and a lot of argy bargy in the mean time.  As I was doing it through my insurance and had paid the excess I also complained to them and received a refund of my excess.

Cragrat - but what was the fault? did they have to replace something? reset something? take the door card off?

Muldy 29 - is there any uneveness or damage to the rubbers causing glass to catch on its way up causing the squashing child's head safety feature to cut in
