DMF Failure 1.8d or is it

Featured Replies

Before christmas my wife described the car as chuggy.  She could mot describe it as anything particular.  I presumed that this was the very slight misfire we`d been having C2000 rpm.

Alas not.  I get a call to say that the car broke down with the thing being more chuggy until it conked out with loads of smoke.

AA called and took one sniff - kipperred clutch.

Over to Mech.  New clutch and DMF fitted, lovely.  Christmas eve and she`s again saying its been getting chuggy and a bit difficult to start so I go out and listen to it.  Well I`ve heard 1940`s tractors more smooth at -2.c.  Get her to switch the thing off and find garage is out till 7 Jan.  She remarks that it`d never been like that before

7th Jan AA called to look at the thing, failed clutch back to mech`s.

Mechanic ends up taking the clutch out failed dmf  about 2" play and loads back to front.

Friday wife picks it up fine and runs fine.  She parks it up and later goes to restart it and tractor noise!  Engine not running at all well.  Just like it did on christmas eve.

Substandard batch of DMF`s?

Any other ideas?
