ABS Malfunction Please Service Now

Featured Replies

Hi I own a Ford Figo 1.5L. I'm sometimes getting the message in the title whenever I start the car. It appears on the screen for a second and then disappears. The car drives normally otherwise, the ABS works fine and the ABS light doesn't come on (except when first starting up). I find that it is more likely to happen if the car is turned on (with the engine off) for a few minutes before starting.

I sent it to the dealership since it's still under warranty but as it's not generating any codes, they say they can't diagnose the issue, which sounds like BS to me. Is there anything that I can check to help diagnose this issue? I have an OBD-II tool but that didn't show anything out of the ordinary. I suspect that it might either be an issue with the battery (not supplying enough voltage while starting), or the ABS module/sensor.

People are telling me it's nothing major and to just live with it, but I don't want to because the car is only a few years old, the warranty is about to expire... and it's kind of annoying. Is there anything I can do if the dealership can't find anything?

I don't know the answer, but I can't work out if that year Figo is like a fiesta or like a KA+  in UK

It's a 2016 Figo, which as I understand is basically a rebadged Fiesta. I could be wrong though.

Get the dealer to do an abs service bleed, basically replaces the brake fluid but purges the abs system at the same time, could be a small amount of air has got trapped in the abs system maybe.....

I had a look at Wikipedia and it talks about it starting off as being Fiesta based but on later model the pic looks more like what the UK would know as Ford KA+
