Body control unit

Featured Replies

Hi,I have a 2011 ford fiesta and the fan heater was only working on speed 4, I was told the heater regulator needed replacing. I booked the car in to get this replaced and for a service too at the same time. When I collected the car earlier the wipers weren't working but we're working fine when dropped off to him and mechanic said he had to replace brake bulbs too even though they were working fine when taken in to him. He rang later to say the body control unit wasn't working and needed replacing. Is it possible that when the heating regulator was being replaced that he could have shorted the car and blew the body control unit ?????? Any help really appreciated........is replacing or fixing the control unit expensive

Thanks

Classic symptom of heater/blower only working on position 4 being the thermo resistor gone phut, easy to replace but very fiddley and can be found quite cheap on eBay. If said mechanic fitted a new one with the blower controls not 'off' then he may well have blown the control unit but before looking at that, look at the fuses that would affect the now non-working issues first. If by chance the control unit has blown I would definitely hold this mechanic by the throat and demand, 'you broke it, you fix it!', there is no reason for the module to go down due to the simple replacement of the thermistor.

thanks for the reply "milkman" my thoughts are exactly the same as yourself..........would be great satisfaction grabbing mechanic by the throat but fear i may get into trouble doing so especially when knowing when to let go of him !!!!

The time to let him go would be when his body control stops working!
