speaking to insurers about the mods I plan on putting on my car. for some reason I always seem to have problems describing what the front bumper extension / lip is to them. Was wondering if anybody would be able to help me use the correct terminology. They always seem to put it down as a body kit however I would personally class a body kit as something such as a widebody kit which would put my insurance well up for obvious reasons.

not really referring to a splitter more the actual stick on bumper bit. the blue bit that is separated

I'd still class that bit as a 'splitter' to be honest. 

Failing that you could describe it as 'bumper skirt' or 'fairing' or simply a 'non OEM bumper'.

Is it from a particular spec? If so you could just advise them that it is the 'STline bumper' for example 

I have an old Fiesta brochure in which Ford describe that part on the Zetec S as "body colour front bumper skirt". The brochure is actually for the pre-facelift Mk 7, but the facelift Mk 7.5 has the same arrangement.
