Mk4 Focus - Vignale vs ST Line X

Featured Replies

Im about to order a new company car (tearfully replacing a Range Rover Evoque that i was lucky enough to get on the last car scheme at work)

I know the ST Line X is the sports/bodykit model and the Vignale is the Luxury model, but can anybody explain any mechanical/material differences between the two?

Ive read lots of heresay and rumours, can anybody confirm if true:
1. Vignale has accoustic insulated glass and the active sound dampening (firing opposing sound waves through the speakers?) - Does the ST Line X?
2. Is the Vignale a lot more comfortable than the ST Line X? Seats? Suspension? Soundproofing?
3. Does either model have any other hidden features over the other?

The two builds im looking at are here - both are Estates, both are 1.5 Ecoboost 182ps:

www.ford.co.uk/s/PFvK

Ive specced them both the same with similair extras, i just cant decide between them.

mmm... no one likes a show off! LOL 🤣 Oh, your links don't work...

Vignale will have multi link rear suspension. I wouldn’t pick one on that tho as the twist beam is more than adequate.

St line has sports suspension, so feel every bump but handles very well.

I prefer the wheels and front grille on the St line X.

Soundproofing would be nice..

vignale has full leather interior. St line doesn’t but St line X has part leather.

If you can afford all the extras is it exactly same price for each?

I've just ordered an ST Line X 182 Auto if that helps. LOL Thought about the Vignale but I don't many miles and I'm not in my 60's!😂

Seriously though; for me it was about styling and handling. I hate chrome on a car because it's not the 1920's and I want a bit of fun now and again. No idea why I bought a Focus then! Lol.

As already suggested apart from suspension the mechanics are the same. The Vignale just has a more luxurious feel with the Bling on the outside and all the stitched leather interior. So it really depends on what look you want. There are of course extras included on the Vignale as standard inc B&O sound, Head up display, heated steering wheel etc which all add to that feel . If youre like me though you'd probably still add more eg Full LED adaptive lighting and premium paint. When I bought mine the ST line X would have cost a  lot more by adding in these extras but wouldn't of course had the more luxurious finish exclusive to the Vignale.

And I'm not in my 60's either

As both are estates they will both have the multi-link rear suspension.

Vignale has most of the equipment you are probably adding as standard.

Q1: No

Q2: Yes

Q3: Basically an ST-Line X is an ST-Line with some added equipment (Climate, HTD Seats etc) but it's still an ST-Line so will only have a rubbish single tone horn, no theatre lighting, lower spec soundproofing, cheaper door casings and no LED rear lights

Personally I'd go for the Vignale or a Titanium X with extras

I have st line xl 182, I do like it but I'm likely to go vignale next time after seeing one at the dealers.  I'm too old for noise and frankly even in 182 form it's not fast enough to deserve the noise.  And I will never understand the point of fake piped noise.

Visually I like the more muscular stlinex but also the more flowing vignale.  I like the way the vignale exhaust is moulded into the bumper.

If you're PCP the stline will likely be cheaper monthlies as it holds value better.

Am I right in saying the Vignale has exhausts on either side like the ST but ones fake?

Adaptive radio volume at the same time. Wtf

Not sure if one is fake or not.

RHS is a dummy one

Quit farting around and go full ST [emoji41]

Would have to be Vignale for me...  As someone mentioned above, the ST-Line X is still just a poverty ST-Line with a few additions, Vignale is the 'full' luxury package...

Of course if you're more interested in looks and sporty handling than spec and lux, then the STLX may be for you!

Or as Stoney says...just go for the ST!

I wouldn't exactly call it poverty.  ST line is similar to Titanium and Stline x to Titanium X.

As standard STX gets things like heated seats, front and rear sensors, dual zone climate, folding mirros, electric seat adjustment, NAV etc..  I only specced the rear camera as an addition.  I don't feel like I'm wanting for anything.

Titanium is a completely pointless spec now, Vignale is the one to go for if you want lux...  But yes I take your point that the X it's considerably better specced than the standard ST-Line!

Aye I dont think anyone wants or buys Titaniums anymore, judging by their resale value

Did you know that when you bought it? It’s not something a car salesman would point out.

I’d ordered my Stline x before I found out about the rear suspension, salesman to this day denies any knowledge of it!

Yes it was mentioned in a  review when vehicle was launched. To be fair to the dealer though at that time they had not seen a Vignale before.

My local dealership had never had or sold a mk4 auto 182. Couldn’t even find me one to test drive. Picked it on back of reviews. It’s a lease car but was still a big gamble.

It's always going to be a personal choice, but on UK roads (bumpy and full of pot holes and repairs) I"ll always go for a softer suspension  over a hard sporty one. So Vignale would be my choice.

If there wasn’t an st line x I wouldn’t have bought a standard st line. Would have considered a titanium . Vignale and ST weren’t an option for me. Very happy with the auto after 27 years of changing gear.

Hello all, not great at cars so thought I’d drop a message here, I’m sure someone will know. I’m after a new / replacement rear passenger door as it’s been damaged. Would a focus vignale door fit a st line x ? Is there any difference with the doors. Thank you
