Eco boost water leak

Hi  we have a 2015 ford focus eco boost 998 cc , it has a water leak coming from next to the water pump .,  I have asked quite a few garages what is the cause  none seem to have come across it , but  it appears there is a rubber 'o' ring  looks like 4in across situated in the timing case , I presume to let the water into the pump , I have been told its a massive job timing case off to get to the 61p seal ,and that you can't do it with ought a special tool to get the crank pulley bolt off  ?

Anybody come across this before and any less drastic measures ?
