DRL auto dim

Featured Replies

HI Guys

I have a 2017 Fiesta Titanium and it has the DRL LED's. Now when i select "park lights" on the light switch the rear lights turn on the the front LED's dim. Is there any way to disable the dimming effect?

Thanks in advance

In a word, no.

The idea is that the brightness they show during the day is too bright for when there is less natural light. DRLs have no beam pattern so they dazzle other drivers if they are used in anything less than daylight.

I understand why you would want them to remain that brightness during the day so you could have the visual effect of the DRLs and the rear lights on too. It's a shame.

Yeah its understandable why they would set them that way. But sometimes especially when its a slight bit overcast i turn on the "park lights" to make myself a bit more visible, too bad i cant have the DRLs keep their brightness when there is no real need for the headlights yet.

I guess though with that being said turning on the headlights would most probably be the best safety/visual aid besides the DRLs in overcast weather.

On our mk8 Fiesta the DRLs stay at full brightness when the side\parking lights are on. The DRLs only dim when you turn the headlights on.
