Cat removal on 2008 focus 1.8tdci

Featured Replies

Can anyone help.

Need to replace my cat, before I take it to a garage and be charge over the hill prices I was wondering if I could do it myself.

I have the new part but under inspection it looks quite hard to get to all the bolts. Can I take the metal brace off the chassis to ease my access?

On inspection of new exhaust I can't see the oxygen sensor hole, does it not have one or is it pre-cat and possibly one after.

Any help would be appreciated. Online manuals or step by step guide would be great too. Tia

I think you are referring to the DPF

1.8 TDCI 2008 doesn't have a DPF

1.8 TDCi doesn't have a DPF...just a cat.  They scrapped that partciular engine before emissions regs forced the need of a DPF.

There's no O2 sensor on these.  Access is the most difficult part tbh, essentially the rest is all just nuts & bolts.  You might be surprised how little an independent tyre & exhaust garage would charge to swap a cat.  Much quicker and easier on their ramp...  Might be worth asking for a quote anyway.

I won't argue on the car in question being a Focus and I haven't had to work on one,
but they are fitted on the 2008/2009 Connects with the 1.8tdci engine for your own information
