Focus mk2 Dashboard compartment lid

Featured Replies

Focus mk2  Titanium and Ghia  models have a compartment  on top of the dash (see pic) , the latch on mine

is broken and the lid needs  jamming closed otherwise it stays in the raised position .

The lid can be removed and replaced , but  is not easy to source .The latest estimate i had was £40 for the

whole  compartment and that was not including  postage .

The lid itself is  about a £1  worth  of plastic .

anyone know a way  around this, besides the obvious , which is jamming it closed and therefore rendering it unusable .

thx

Either plastic weld the latch or superglue a small magnet and a piece of metal to the lid and compartment.

Mine was glued shut when i purchased car, i freed it cos it's a useful place to put receipts etc. The spring was deactivated and the hinges are broke. I thought it might rattle but it doesn't, it just rests there till i need to use it. I was going to try and replace it but not really worth the hassle. I'm a fussy bugger normally but i can certainly live with this minor fault.
