Mk 7.5 with Climate Control - no blower output at any setting

Featured Replies

Folks I'm after a bit of advice. My 1.0 Ecoboost Titanium had been sat unused for four weeks in December / January when it was really damp. First drive in the new year I had no heater blower output at any setting on the electronic climate control and no front or rear demisters. I read that a low battery level causes the ECU to shut off the demisters so I trickle charged the battery to full and the demisters came back on but still no blower output.

I have checked the heater blower fuse (4) and relay (R13) and both are working.

I checked the cabin filter for blockage and it is clear,

I bought a replacement resistor / thermistor pack as I read this was the most common issue (where you lose blower output except for max setting). However I think the resistor pack is for cars with manual controls, not electronic climate control, as the housing looks completely different!

I read that damp can cause problems with the electronic climate control so I have taken the car for a 2 hour drive today. There is a little heat coming out of the vents, just enough to keeo the front windscreen clear, but I reckon this is just forced air. Still no blower output.

I've not got the confidence to try and remove the blower motor, especially as it looks different to the guide in the Haynes manual I have (which I think must be for the manual heating controls) so I reckon it will have to go into the garage.  Before I do this, is there anything else I can try?

Thanks

Firstly, chuck the Haynes in the bin, it's useless, these manuals were pretty good up until the mid 1990's but since then they've gone downhill considerably.

Secondly, you can test if the blower motor is working by unplugging it's feed, it's only a two pin plug, and connect it directly to a battery, if it doesn't run then it's gone down. The plug should be under the bottom of the motor, it might tell you how to gain access to the motor in the Haynes but that's about all.  Look on eBay for Ford Fiesta mk7 heater blower resistor to identify the correct one for your car, there's loads listed. There's a lot of blower motors listed as well, if you have to go down that route make sure that the seller has tested that it works.

If it was the resistor you would still have No 4 Speed working.

Thanks folks. I'll see if I can get to the motor plug. .
